YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A unique, first-of-its-kind food hall that has something for everyone will be opening in York County this year.
Food halls have been becoming more popular but there’s not something like that in York so chef Ethan Greer figured that opening the Franklin Street Social in the area would be great for the community.
“I’ve traveled the world, and food halls have just become the new almost food truck,” Greer said. “You know everybody wants to have a food truck because it is accessible way to get into a restaurant. And now with food halls, as they become popular all over the world, you can get a lot of vendors in one place. And I just saw, hey, why don’t we have something like that in York.”
That thought has led to him creating the food hall that will be opening in September in Red Lion, located at 214 North Franklin Street.
Authentic Kimchee production facility now open in Cumberland County “To be one of the first people to do something so unique and curate and really answer a need, here in York County, really helps push the food culture and the overall destination that we could create, you know, really leaning on people from other areas like Lancaster, Maryland and getting people to come here and really believe in what it is that we have,” Greer said.
The food hall will have 400 seats and be two stories, 14,000 square feet, and each vendor will have their own stall. Hours of operation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the weekends. The location will have over 70 parking spaces.
To get from the top to the bottom floor quickly, there will be a slide, but the building will also have stairs and an elevator as well.

People can expect to choose from a variety of food options such as pizza, Middle Eastern food, a burger garage with American-style cuisine and more. A space for food trucks to rent out will also be at the food hall.
“There’s just going to be something for everyone we know that we wanted to cater to, you know, the diversity in the area, but also giving, options that, you know, if you have some picky eaters but you have some adventurous people, everyone can gather a little bit of something,” Greer said.
Other than just food options, Greer said that they plan to get a golf simulation business in the hall as well, and there will be a play space for kids.
The building used to be home to the Ebert Furniture Company.
