RED BANK: AID BILL EASES, BUT DOESN’T END SCHOOL BUDGET SQUEEZE

The Red Bank Borough Schools are facing a slightly better financial situation after the governor and legislature approved a bill earlier this month giving more aid to the district and others across the state who faced dramatic cuts under the state school funding formula.
RED BANK: MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY HONORS THE FALLEN
Red Bank held its annual Memorial Day Ceremony Monday at the Veteran’s Monument under sunny skies that belied the solemnity of the day. Keynote Speaker US Army Brigadier Generall Daniel Hershkowitz, currently serving at Joint Base McGuire-Dix Lakehurst, reminded the crowd that the nation was approaching the 80th anniversary of D-Day, and likened Red Bank’s stone monument to many he had seen across France in honor of the soldiers who liberated that country during World War II.

Anybody lose a Slim Jim? A “Sweet Mild O’ Mine” flavor Slim Jim was seen left unattended on this mailbox on Mechanic Street as the letter carrier approached. Perhaps it was left for him as a reward from an appreciative US Postal Service patron? Or perhaps someone briefly put it down and got distracted and is now wondering where their delicious jerky treat has gone? If you misplaced it, or if you’re just hungry for a free snack, we left it there for you, as tempted as we were.
