Photographer Danny Clinch (in the tan hat) stands at the center of the pop-up launch party. (Photo by Brian Donohue. Click to enlarge.) Since the stunning downfall into bankruptcy of local institution Sickles Market, the store’s former Red Bank location inside the brick Anderson Building has gotten, well, a little sleepy.
YAPPY TOGETHER
Look for this cutie pie, named Sacramento, at Yappy Hour on Broad Street in Red Bank Saturday. Sacramento is an affectionate, four-month-old Shepherd mix with big paws he’ll be growing into, and he’s available for adoption through Louie’s Legacy, one of the many animal advocacy groups participating in Yappy Hour.
YELLOW RAINCOAT DAY
On a rainy May morning, the only golden sight on Broad Street this morning were the matching raincoats of Eileen and her dog Benny. Partyline is an experimental way to let readers text message news stories to redbankgreen to get posted (after editorial review) — for all of the things that are fun, unusual, or important but might otherwise get missed. More to come when it's ready. Invented at redbankgreen.
VIDEO: MONMOUTH BOAT CLUB PLANS TO GO HIGHER
It’s 145 years old. It’s one of the most iconic and historic buildings in Red Bank. And ever so slowly, it’s sinking into the Navesink River. Watch the latest video from redbankgreen to hear how the Monmouth Boat Club plans to save and preserve one of the town’s last remaining links to its maritime past and hopefully lead the way in helping the town reclaim a more salty future.

MORE FALLOUT FROM SICKLES COLLAPSE
(Photo by Brian Donohue. Click to enlarge.) RED BANK: BROADWALK BOLLARDS BLOOM
(Photo by Brian Donohue. Click to enlarge.) They emerged from the ground Monday morning, a sure sign of the season in which chilling out takes precedence over hustle and bustle, where a sip of wine under the stars takes precedence over shortcuts for SUV’s. Love ’em or hate ’em, the Broadwalk bollards are back.
STOP. JUST STOP.
For those who don’t get the meaning of a handheld stop sign, Red Bank crossing guard Diane Johnson amplifies the message with some colorful outfits. Not that her approach is 100-percent effective, says Johnson, seen here Monday afternoon at Maple Avenue and Peters Place. “They still don’t stop,” she...

RED BANK: VINYL HOUNDS BASK ON MECHANIC STREET
(Photo by Brian Donohue. Click to enlarge.) Bright sunshine, perfect spring temps and the prospect of scoring a classic by Menudo or Zamfir the Romanian pan flute legend brought hundreds to the street where music legend William “Count” Basie grew up for the first annual Record Riot. The outdoor record fair sponsored by Jack’s Music Shoppe brought two dozen dealers to the street and the people watching proved as good as the crate digging. Scroll down for fun photos and more sunshine than a Katrina and the Waves song.

RED BANK: ‘YAPPY HOUR’ SET FOR BROADWALK
Red Bank’s Broadwalk is slated to return next week. And it will quickly go to the dogs, event organizers hope. Restaurants along the downtown pedestrian plaza – upper Broad Street, from White Street to Front Street – are allowed by law to set up dining areas in the street starting Monday, and continuing through September 30, under a February ordinance that made Broadwalk an annually recurring event.

RECORDS SKIP INTO TOWN
In the end, eight-tracks and cassettes couldn’t kill off vinyl records. Neither did CDs. And they’re even holding their own in the age of streaming. On Saturday, fans of vinyl records (and CDs) are expected to pour into downtown Red Bank to celebrate the ever-embattled but cockroach-like music format, when a free, daylong ‘Record Riot’ sets up on Mechanic Street.
