    UPDPATE: Forward progress stopped on fire in Churn Creek Bottom south of Redding

    Crews worked a 1.5-acre fire that burned in the Churn Creek Bottom, according to emergency scanner reports. Crews reported forward progress stopped on the fire at about 2:30 p.m.

    Air tankers and fire engines were on the scene of the fire, which broke out shortly after 2 p.m. in the 19000 block of W. Niles Lane, west of Interstate 5.

    Crews reported the fire burning in vegetation at a moderate to slow rate of spread. No structures were immediately threatened, according to air tanker crews flying over the fire.
