(KMAland) -- Bedford, Lenox and Martensdale-St. Marys athletes have been honored as unanimous All-Pride of Iowa Conference first team baseball choices. Bedford’s Klemit Olney, Lenox’s Dawson Evans and Martensdale-St. Marys’ Travis White were the only three unanimous choices on the team at pitcher, infield and infield, respectively. Afton man booked on Union County warrant for assault
(Creston) -- An Afton man was arrested on a warrant Monday stemming from an alleged assault. The Creston Police Department says 33-year-old Zackary Charles Huddleson was arrested at 2:15 p.m. on a Union County warrant for assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. Authorities say the arrest occurred at the Creston-Union County Law Enforcement Center.

City Of Exira Is The Next Community Participating In The Homes For Iowa Program
The City of Exira is looking to provide additional housing opportunities to promote continued growth for the community by participating in the Homes for Iowa (HFI) program. City council members approved during the last meeting of a three-bedroom, two-bath, 1200 square-foot pre-fabricated home that will be placed on the city-owned lot located at 200 E Depot St. City officials are just finalizing the HFI pre-order checklist before officially purchasing a home that will be transported to Exira. Viking Construction, based out of Exira, will serve as the head contractor for the project, seeking out bids for the required foundation that is needed to be constructed at the recipient’s expense before delivery. Delivery is expected to take about six months, but with that timeframe landing in the winter months, it is unclear if the home will be fully ready around that time. City Clerk Meg Anderson says the house will be available by late spring 2025. Anderson says the Exira officials will also discuss ownership of the house before completed construction if there is interest. She says the sooner a buyer contacts the city, the better chance for partial customization, specifically the full basement, can be done. (Atlantic) Thousands of bicycle enthusiasts hailing from coast to coast and abroad are traveling across Iowa for RAGBRAI 2024. The trip started in Glenwood on Sunday, spent Sunday night in Red Oak, and headed out on Monday morning through Elliott, Griswold, and Lewis for an overnight stay in Atlantic. RAGBRAI rides through Glenwood, Red Oak
(Red Oak) -- Cyclists from across the country and the globe began the over 460-mile trek of RAGBRAI Sunday. After kicking off with an expo in Glenwood Saturday, tens of thousands of cyclists made their way across Mills County and began filing into Red Oak Sunday afternoon and evening for the 51st Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. Tents, trailers, and trucks packed into the Red Oak Junior-Senior High and Inman Elementary grounds, public parks, and host family's yards and homes. KMA News had a chance to catch up with some riders, including first-timers such as Al West from northwest Missouri. A veteran cyclist, West says he has usually preferred riding solo or with smaller groups. But, he says the first day went well in the jam-packed event.
