REDFORD TWP. (WWJ) — A 55-year-old Redford man is facing a long list of charges in connection with a barricaded gunman situation earlier this week.

Vincent Jensen was arraigned Friday on multiple charges, including assault with intent to rob while armed, a day after a roughly four-hour standoff at a home on Seminole Street , near 7 Mile and Inkster Roads.

Redford police were called to the home early Thursday morning for a reported assault. When they showed up they saw Jensen fleeing the scene.

Jensen allegedly punched the victim in the chest and pointed a shotgun in their face before running away. He then returned to the home and barricaded himself inside for several hours.

Police and SWAT teams used a bullhorn to talk with Jensen while he was inside the home. He was eventually taken into custody around 3 p.m.

Authorities did not release any information about the victim or what prompted the alleged assault.

On Friday Jensen was charged with assault with intent to rob, extortion, third-degree fleeing and eluding and five counts of felony firearm. Officials didn’t say what Jensen allegedly did to warrant the extortion charge.

“The alleged facts in this case are extremely troubling and show strong disregard of the safety of a community. A man who assaulted a man,  drove at excessive speeds through a residential neighborhood to evade the police, and barricaded himself with threats to kill. A trifecta of criminal behavior,” said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

Jensen was remanded to jail. His next court date is scheduled for July 30.
