High speed police pursuit in Whitley County ends with arrest in Fort Wayne
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A man is in custody after he led police on a high-speed police pursuit across two counties. According to police, the pursuit started in Whitley County Sunday morning when Indiana State Police tried to pull over a driver on U.S. 30. The driver took off and headed east into Allen County where sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit.
Fishers resident heads to Ironman World Championship
Fishers resident Kyle Gabbard has qualified to compete this fall in the annual Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The Ironman World Championship is a Hawaii-based competition that features “the very best male professional and age-group triathletes from around the world,” according to the organization. The competition, which attracts about 2,000 international competitors, is a combined 140.6-mile event that consists of swimming in Kailua Bay, biking along the coast and running through barren lava fields.
Noblesville High School hires swim coach
The Noblesville Swim Club and Noblesville High School jointly announced the hiring of Jess Preston as its new head swim coach July 16. Preston comes to Noblesville from Penn High School and Irish Aquatics in Mishawaka. He had been head coach of Penn’s boys and girls teams since 2008, leading them to multiple trips to the IHSAA State Swimming and Diving finals.
Noblesville fire captain arrested on domestic battery charge
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — Police arrested a fire captain for the Noblesville Fire Department on a preliminary charge of domestic battery Saturday morning. According to Noblesville Fire Department, the Lapel Police Department arrested 55-year-old Brett Etherington early Saturday morning. Booking details indicate Etherington is charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, which is a Level 6 Felony in Indiana.
