Metallica announces annual All Within My Hands Foundation benefit in L.A.
Metallica on Monday announced the date of its All Within My Hands Foundation’s annual benefit show and auction, which will again take place in Los Angeles. The concert will take place on Dec. 13 at YouTube Theater. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. TV’s Jimmy Kimmel will again host the event, which returns after a one-year absence in 2023 due to touring. In 2022, the band raised $3 million, which went to its nonprofits efforts to support workforce education, fight hunger and provide disaster relief. That event included appearances by Robert Downey, Jr., Tony Hawk, St. Vincent and performances by Metallica and Greta Van Fleet.
Metro sees rise in ridership
Despite recent crime, Metro said overall ridership increased in June compared to the same period a year earlier -- with the transit agency Monday reporting almost 25.2 million boardings between buses and rails, and ridership hitting 85.5% of pre-COVID June 2019 passenger levels.

Authorities responded to at least two street takeovers in the Los Angeles area, one of which left two people injured when a shooting broke out.2 people shot in Compton street takeoverAccording to the sheriff's department, gunfire erupted around 8:30 p.m. Sunday at a street takeover near Greenleaf Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue. The two victims heard gunshots and immediately started running.They quickly realized they had been struck and drove themselves to the hospital for treatment.One of the victims was grazed by a bullet in the back of the head while the other was shot in the thigh. Both are expected to be ok.No other injuries were reported and information regarding a suspect or suspects hasn't been released.South LA takeoverAnother street takeover was reported near Century Boulevard and Western Avenue.
