School District Sues Gov. Newsom Over New Gender Identity Law
Last week, the Chino Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) and a group of parents were in a legal battle with the state. The southern California school district sued Gov. Gavin Newsom over Assembly Bill 1955, a law that bans educators from notifying parents about their child’s gender identity. The law aims to protect transgender students against being forced to “come out” to their parents against their will. However, parents and school board members in Chino Valley argue that the law violates the parent’s rights under the United States Constitution.

Three gang members with criminal histories have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a well-known Long Beach street vendor, Long Beach police said. Yener Hudiel Ramirez-Miranda, a father and husband, was shot and killed on March 20 around 4 p.m. while working as a street vendor at East Eagle Street and Locust Avenue. Metallica announces annual All Within My Hands Foundation benefit in L.A.
Metallica on Monday announced the date of its All Within My Hands Foundation’s annual benefit show and auction, which will again take place in Los Angeles. The concert will take place on Dec. 13 at YouTube Theater. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. TV’s Jimmy Kimmel will again host the event, which returns after a one-year absence in 2023 due to touring. In 2022, the band raised $3 million, which went to its nonprofits efforts to support workforce education, fight hunger and provide disaster relief. Metro sees rise in ridership
