According to recent reporting in Palo Alto Online , a Mountain View beer garden is coming soon to Redwood City.
Dasbierhauz , a German beer garden based out of Olympus Caffe & Bakery since 2020, is planning to open its second location at 830 Middlefield Road . As a German beer garden, Dasbierhauz naturally specializes in traditional German beer and food, such as bratwurst, pretzels, and schnitzel.
“A beer garden is a community spot where everybody gets together and happily sits down for a few hours,” said Mehmet Vural , co-owner of Dasbierhauz to Palo Alto Online .
Vural will run the second location alongside business partner Savas Basmuli , the owner of San Mateo’s Cobani Gyro & Kebab. The second location will feature a reduced outdoor patio compared to Mountain View’s, but an interior about twice as big, per the Journal’s reporting.
In the way of offerings, the menus between the two locations will be “relatively similar,” apart from a few Redwood City-exclusive beers and menu items, including “leberkäse, a specialty German meatloaf, and sauerbraten, a traditional German beef roast.”
“In Germany, they make the schnitzel so thin it dries, so mine has more meat to it,” Vural said. “I feel like when it comes to schnitzel, we are unbeatable because you get nice chunks of meat which are cooked perfectly, and the mushroom sauce is beautiful. And I have that special cream sauce which is my own recipe.”
