Point Cabrillo Lighthouse Tours Offer Rare Look Inside
Point Cabrillo Light Station State Historic Park will offer Lighthouse Lens Tours on Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to climb to the top of Mendocino’s historic lighthouse, stand next to the 1909 Fresnel Lens, and enjoy stunning views of the Mendocino coastline. The tours, led by volunteer docents from the Point Cabrillo Lightkeepers Association, occur only a few times a year.

College admission getting more and more competitive for students
The class of 2024 faced record competition during this college admissions season as acceptance rates at top colleges continued to decline. At the University of California, Berkeley, the acceptance rate fell from 17.5% in 2020 to 11.6% in 2024 – according to the UC system – continuing a gradual decline spanning at least three decades. Berkeley received 88,064 applications in 2020 and 125,910 in 2024.
