Annual MCMS music fest comes to regional venues
The Montana Chamber Music Society celebrates its annual Montana Chamber Music Festival with local performances on July 23rd, 24th and 26th. The Monday performance will be held at Big Sky’s Wilson Hotel, followed by a Tuesday show at Livingston’s Shane Lalani Center for the Arts, then moving to Bozeman for a Friday program at Reynolds Recital Hall on the Montana State University campus. The Big Sky and Bozeman performances begin at 7pm, and 7:30pm in Bozeman.

MaKenna Prather signs to play at next level
MaKenna Prather, a dual sport athlete for Columbus, has signed to continue her softball career with Park University in Gilbert, Arizona where she will join the team as an infielder. The Lady Buccaneers, a private NAIA team who recently moved into the Great Southwest Athletic Conference, finished their 2024 campaign with a 13-10 conference record (19-29 overall). Prather’s love of softball has included eight years of summer travel ball to go along with her four years playing high school ball as a member of the Stillwater Renegades. Her dedication and leadership landed her a captain role this season for the Renegades, where she brought her experience and athleticism to an underclassmen-heavy team. A three-year letter winner, Prather played third base for the Renegades and finished the season with an amazing .493 batting average. Her skill and hard work earned her a First Team All-Conference honor. Prather was also a valued member of the Lady Cougar basketball team, who finished second this year in the District 4B tournament and made an appearance at the Southern B Divisional tournament.

BILLINGS — Bozeman natives stole the show during the Montana Mile in the Opening Ceremonies of the Big Sky State Games on Friday night at Daylis Stadium in Billings. Bozeman High graduate and current Northern Arizona runner Hayley Burns claimed the girls race in 4 minutes, 55.79 seconds, while 2023 Gallatin grad and University of Montana runner Carson Steckelberg passed teammate Henry Ballinger on the final turn to win the boys race in 4:19.85.
