About one year ago, back in June of 2023, I reported that a Lincoln, North Dakota Convenience Store had added a self-checkout terminal. It was kind of a big deal at the time because it was the first of its kind in C-stores in the Capitol Region. Another one was added the Cenex on East Expressway and Main.

Fargo teen reportedly catches pedophile
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Police were called to Dairy Queen at 4015 45st St S in Fargo for a report of a disturbance Sunday just after 10:30 PM. According to police, a 16-year-old told them he had been “bored” the night before and decided to try to “catch a pedophile”. The teen created a Grindr account to which 24-year-old Julius Trevino responded.

ND Country Fest Brings Tens of Thousands to New Salem
North Dakota Country Fest brought tens of thousands of people to the small town of New Salem over the weekend. The North Dakota Highway Patrol said it was the busiest weekend on the state’s highways due to the festival, eclipsing 4th of July and Memorial Day weekends. Headliners included Dierks Bentley, Clint Black, Diamond Rio, and Riley Green. The festival will be back next year in the small town of just over 1,000 residents, with organizers announcing Sam Hunt and Cole Swindell performing in 2025. Swindell said on his Facebook page that he was already looking forward to playing there next summer.

Rare Black Bear Spotted in North Dakota
Officials are tracking a rare black bear sighting in western North Dakota, believed to be the same bear moving through various locations, with recent sightings near Marmarth, Amidon, and the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The bear was last sighted in the northern area of Theodore Roosevelt National Park on Wednesday. Biologist for North Dakota Game and Fish say the bear appears to be in a sub-adult age group and actively in search of a new habitat or mating partners. They believe the bear’s final destination will not be in the southwest region.
