New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS), a division of New York Blood Center, which provides blood for local patients, is looking for a few good volunteers. The blood drive volunteer is an integral member of our team whose tasks include assisting donors with registration and/or at the refreshment area. No medical background necessary. Volunteers should be outgoing to provide friendly customer service, be able to perform tasks as needed and must provide proof of COVID Vaccination prior to volunteering. Must have transportation. All training is provided including additional precautions for the safety of our team and blood donors. Bordentown’s Old City Hall to host two historic events
Two historic events are coming to Bordentown’s Old City Hall. A storytelling performance of “The Wreck,” will be held on Feb. 17 and Feb. 24th. The four-part staging of the catastrophic 1901 collision of the Nellie Bly locomotive is created by Kristi Kantorski and presented jointly by the Bordentown Historical Society and Bordentown’s Old City Hall Cultural Vision Committee. The infamous train wreck was a local story heard around the world, according to a release through the Bordentown Historical Society.
Wharton State Forest plan to control illegal motor vehicle damage is a welcome step!

Meet Chief at ‘Tail’-gate Party and Open House
The Burlington County Animal Shelter is partnering with Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter to host the Ultimate “Tail”-gate Party and Open House on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 11. From noon to 3 p.m. residents can tour the shelter and meet several of the amazing dogs and cats available for adoption or foster. There will also be football and animal-themed games and activities, and all adoption fees will be waived that day.
Former Philadelphia man indicted for operating human trafficking network
A state grand jury voted to file a 16-count indictment against a 40-year-old man who was allegedly operating a human trafficking network in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, after one of the victims, a teen girl, escaped from a Bordentown hotel where she allegedly had been held captive and sex trafficked, according to U.S. Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ).

Kelly Lozito, who has served on the township’s Planning Board and Environmental Commission, was selected to fill the unexpired term of former Mayor Stephen Benowitz, who stepped down from his post on Dec. 31, 2023 citing health concerns, at a committee meeting on Jan. 22.
