Bordentown Township Police investigate car burglaries
The Bordentown Township Police Department is seeking assistance with the investigation of overnight unlocked car burglaries in the Bywater and Tree Street neighborhoods. Residents are asked to check their home video surveillance systems for relevant footage between the hours of 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. July 15. Footage can be emailed to Ptl. Chase Potocny at CPotocny@bordentowntownshippd.org.

Watching fireflies twinkling amongst the backdrop of wildflowers, shrubs, and trees on a warm summer night is a mesmerizing and awe-inspiring experience. These bioluminescent beetles use a chemical reaction in their bodies to flash signals to the opposite sex that they’re ready to mate. They are Mother Nature’s own fireworks!

A self-described Lego expert and video connoisseur, rising high school freshman Patrick E. Maszczak is gaining hands-on robotics design and civil engineering skills through the National Youth Leadership Forum Explore STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) this summer. Maszczak was nominated to attend the forum at the North Carolina State University.

Bordentown Township Police blotter
A 37-year-old Delaware man was charged with a number of narcotics offenses and other charges on June 26. Police went to check on a male subject in the rear of the Bank of America on Route 130 who allegedly appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic. The male provided a fictious name to officers and handed them a fraudulent Pennsylvania driver’s license. The man was found to possess three bags of heroin, drug paraphernalia and four additional fraudulent identifications as well as fraudulent bank cards. He was then charged possession of controlled dangerous substances, possession of false government documents, possession of drug paraphernalia, hindering and being a fugitive from Delaware. He was then committed to the Burlington County Jail pending detention and extradition hearings.

Bordentown Regional High School Class of 2023 turned their tassels marking their next chapter during the annual graduation ceremony on their athletic field June 20. Before the class received their diplomas, the class heard from Salutatorian Sucheth Mididoddi and Valedictorian Kush Gandhi.

Burlington County offers farmer’s market vouchers to qualifying seniors
Burlington County Commissioners are offering senior citizens larger vouchers for fresh fruits and vegetables sold at local farmers markets. Applications for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Voucher Program are now available to eligible seniors. This year, those who qualify will receive $50 redeemable at participating farmers markets and market vendors, a $20 increase over the amount distributed last year.
