Miami Hurricanes a finalist for five-star TE Kendre Harrison: “I really think they can develop me there”

When coveted 2026 Reidsville (N.C.) tight end Kendre Harrison released his initial list of his top 15 schools, the Miami Hurricanes were nowhere to be found.

This week the five-star prospect trimmed the list once more, with the Canes now making the cut alongside Oregon, Penn State, North Carolina, Florida State, and Tennessee.

Those are the programs I have really built a great relationship with,” Harrison told CaneSport. “I’m just trying to focus on those six schools and this upcoming season.”

This summer, the No. 6 prospect in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking took his first visit to Coral Gables, which changed his perception of the program.

“I didn’t have Miami in my top 15, but after I visited I loved it,” Harrison told On3’s Chad Simmons. “It is an amazing place with the weather and the campus. I like coach Cody Woodiel a lot, too. When I was down there we watched film and broke things down. He talked to me like I was a player there already and we really connected.”

Getting a glimpse of what Miami had to offer, as well as extensive conversations with tight ends coach Cody Woodiel and head coach Mario Cristobal , has the Hurricanes well in the mix to land the 6-foot-6, 250-pounder.

“That’s a great program and just a great place to be,” Harrison said. “I have a great relationship with the coaches as well. And my time down there, I wish it was longer. I had a lot of fun. I really think they can develop me there.”

This upcoming fall Harrison is hoping to make his return to South Florida for a game-day visit with the Canes. He’ll have a close eye on the tight ends and how they’re used in Miami’s offense.

“When I was down there, it was just me watching film,” Harrison said. “I want to see coach Cristobal and coach Woodiel put that practice into the game and really see how they execute and use the tight ends against other people.”

When the time does come to make a decision, Harrison, who is also a top 50 basketball recruit in the 2026 class, says having the opportunity to play both sports at the next level will play a key role in his commitment.

“A school where I can play basketball and football,” Harrison said when asked what will be the biggest factor in his recruitment.

    CaneSport’s take

It may be early in the 2026 recruiting cycle, but the Hurricanes are all in on the No. 1 tight end in next year’s recruiting class. Getting Harrison on campus moved the needle for the program, and getting him back once again could further improve where the Canes stand in his recruitment.
