Let the Good Times Roll — Toilet Paper Day is August 26
It’s time for back-to-cool sales. And back-to-school sales. It’s an August sublime. I’m still eating sweet corn and the Minnesota Twins are still in the running. I recall a Luther League trip to Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington to watch the Twins during my first childhood. We sat in the cheap seats far from home plate. The only people seated farther away were my parents, who were at home. There are foods we like but grow tired of, and there are foods we like that we don’t grow weary of. One of the joys of living where I do is the tasty sweet corn that finds me each year.

The Great Itasca Giveback raises $54,500 for local nonprofits
After a challenging 250-mile journey that started on August 2nd and ended on August 3rd, the Great Itasca Giveback team of Officer Troy Scott, Teacher Phill Hermel and Dr. Simon Lick ended up raising $54,500 for eight local nonprofits! The team’s original goal was $15,000 and they raised almost four times that amount. The City of Fergus Falls is Asking City Residents to Limit Their Water Usage.
With the rainfall that inundated the region Monday afternoon, the City of Fergus Falls is asking city resident to limit their water usage. City of Fergus Falls Public Works Director Len Taylor stated; “The system is taxed it’s maxing out right now. Our sanitary sewer (system) does receive storm water into storm manhole covers, it is really maxing out our plant out on the west side of town. We’re asking all the residents to limit their water use, no laundry and minimal flushing however that works for a household.” Taylor continued to ask resident to do “just anything you can do to not use as much water as you typically would in a regular day.”
