Upgrades at Alabama sorority houses highlighted in Wall Street Journal
The University of Alabama’s investment to Greek life is well known, not just around the state but also nationwide. Sorority row seems to get bigger and bigger every year with improvements to the exterior of the buildings being noticeable to the public. But the renovations don’t end there, as the Wall Street Journal has pointed out in a recent profile of sorority houses across the country.
Online state surplus auction to be held Aug. 17-25
The Alabama State Surplus Property division of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) will hold an online surplus auction from Aug. 17 to Aug. 25. The auction will feature used vehicles, computers, machinery, furniture and other items. It will be held through the online bidding site GovDeals.com from 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 17 until 6 p.m. on Aug. 25.

Suspect arrested in connection to 3 different Millbrook burglaries
MILLBROOK, Ala. (WSFA) - A man has been arrested in connection to three different burglaries in Millbrook, according to the Millbrook Police Department. The first burglary in question happened Aug. 9 at a church in the 5900 block of Main Street. The suspect did not have to use force to enter the building. It is not specified how he got in. Inside, the suspect stole a debit card, which was used at several near by businesses shortly after.

She is currently the executive director of Madison Visionary Partners (MVP), a nonprofit that focuses on community projects and public space initiatives in Madison. Under her leadership, MVP successfully raised over $2 million for projects such as the Madison Community Center and the Kids Kingdom Inclusive Playground. Prattville Planning Commission approves preliminary PUD for The Cottages at Prattville
The Prattville Planning Commission heard from Forge Residential Partners regarding The Cottages at Prattville, a project on Highway 82 and Constitution Avenue. The Birmingham developers are looking to build the “new” project, which has come before the Prattville Planning Commission and the Prattville City Council many times. This project will house roughly 192 total units as opposed to the previous project’s 234 single and multi-family homes built on 44.89 acres. This roughly equates to about five units per acre, Forge confirmed at the meeting.
Auburn football embracing competitive fall camp ahead of 2024 season
