Man shot at in rural Reno County
RENO COUNTY — Saturday evening at 7:46, Reno County Deputies responded to a shooting call around Trail West Road and Langdon Road in Reno County. Douglas Hall reported his daughter was following him home from working in the field and managed to get the vehicle she was driving stuck in the ditch. Thomas Morrison also lives in the area. Thomas fired four shots from a .22 caliber revolver directly towards Doug and his daughter and another two shots from a long rifle. Doug was able to remove the vehicle and contacted 911.

RENO COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) - A man is facing charges after allegedly shooting at two people after a vehicle became stuck in a ditch near Plevna over the weekend. Around 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Reno County deputies responded to a shooting call near Trail West Road and Langdon Road. A man reported that his daughter was following home from working in a field when her vehicle got stuck. A man who lives nearby, Thomas Morrison, allegedly fired four shots from a .22 caliber revolver directly towards the man and his daughter, as well as another two shots from a long rifle. The man was able to remove the vehicle and contacted police.
Reno Co. residents part of mental health cohort
RENO COUNTY — A group of 24 individuals from various backgrounds and professions is focused on making progress on the adaptive challenge of mental health in Reno County. The 2024 Mental Health Leadership Cohort is a new approach to the Kansas Leadership Center’s Leadership Transformation Grant that Hutchinson Community Foundation has held on behalf of the community since 2019. The leadership development grant has allowed more than 100 individuals representing 49 businesses and organizations in Reno County to take part in KLC programs.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The next Saturday Night at the Y will actually be at Salt City Splash in July. "Actually on the 13th at six o'clock, we will be having our event at Salt City Splash," said David Foster with the Hutchinson YMCA. "Thanks to Tony and the great folks at Hutch Rec for hosting us out there. It's for anybody and everybody that's been to a Saturday night at the Y already this school year, or if this would be your first one, we will have registration forms that parents just need to fill out on site, and that will get you into the event."
