Nevada high school state softball playoffs: Douglas looks to repeat; see all schedules here

The Douglas softball team has been on a tear. Now, the defending state champions get to try to repeat that feat, this time in Southern Nevada.

Douglas won the title last year at Hixson Park on the Nevada campus, defeating Centennial, 6-3.

Two years ago the Tigers were in the winners' bracket, but lost twice to Green Valley, 5-0 and 8-2, on championship Saturday as the Gators won the title.

The 5A state softball tournament returns to Southern Nevada, starting Thursday, as Douglas faces Coronado and Spanish Springs plays Palo Verde.

Douglas has won state three times, in 1991, 1992 and 2023; Spanish Springs has won state five times, in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2016 and 2018.

In the 5A-South Regional last week, Palo Verde beat Coronado, 10-5. Douglas beat Spanish Springs, 7-0, for the 5A-North Regional title.
