Fire crews kept the Crozier Fire in El Dorado County National Forest to just over 1,900 acres over the weekend.

The 1,938-acre blaze, 20 miles northeast of Placerville, was 36% contained Monday afternoon, remaining mostly unchanged in acres burned since Friday, according to Cal Fire data.

The blaze broke out on Wednesday, initially burning on 67 acres.

On Monday, Cal Fire said there was minimal burning activity overnight, "with smoldering trees, downed snags and pockets of brush continuing to burn within the established perimeter."

Cal Fire said 108 engines, 18 helicopters, 13 dozers, 37 water tenders and 48 hand crews with about 1,776 personnel are fighting the blaze burning in a remote part of the El Dorado National Forest.

Of concern is a large amount of dry fuel, but Cal Fire said that there a cooling trend is expected to support firefighter's efforts as crews mop up and strengthen containment lines.

On Sunday, residents in Georgetown, Garden Valley, Volcanoville and Quintet were able to return home following evacuations.
