American Airlines adds nonstop Reno-LAX flight for Burning Man. Tickets for event still available

American Airlines is adding a nonstop flight between Reno and Los Angeles in anticipation of increased demand for Burning Man.

The seasonal American Airlines flight between Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport will be available from Aug. 23 to Sept. 3, according to the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority.

The airport authority has previously described Burning Man as the Super Bowl meets Mardi Gras for the Reno airport for the large number of visitors it brings in. The event, which brings tens of thousands of travelers to the airport, was a big part of Reno-Tahoe International seeing a 15-year high last year for passenger counts .

This year, however, has seen cooling demand for Burning Man, with tickets still available for sale as of Thursday morning at the event’s ticket site . In the past, tickets would sell out quickly within an hour or even mere minutes once they go on sale.

Last year also saw Burning Man attendees — including comedian Chris Rock and popular DJ Diplo — stuck at the Black Rock Desert after a rainstorm turned the playa into a “mucky mess.”

Burning Man is scheduled to be held from Aug. 25 to Sept. 2.
