Temps to drop in Reno Friday; snow possible in the mountains

Reno is expected to see a dip in temperatures at the end of the week, with subfreezing temperatures and snow possible for the upper elevations.

A high of 85 degrees is expected today in the Truckee Meadows, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. By the end of the week, Reno-Sparks will drop down to 71 degrees for a high.

Overnight lows will be in the low 50s in Reno-Sparks tonight. On Friday and Saturday, overnight lows fall to the upper 40s.

In the Sierra Nevada, overnight temps will be in the mid-30s. On Friday and Saturday night, below freezing temperatures could hit the higher elevations.

Temperatures tick back up at the end of the weekend.

Reno-Sparks weather outlook

Reno-Sparks is expected to have a high of 71 degrees on Friday and Saturday. Wind gusts up to 35 mph are forecast with a chance for showers on Friday.

Winds are expected to slow to 25 mph on Saturday. Rain showers are possible through Saturday night.

On Sunday, skies stay clear and winds move out. A high of 80 is forecast.

South Lake Tahoe weather forecast

South Lake Tahoe is forecast to see high temperatures in the mid-70s through Thursday. Highs dip to 60 degrees on Friday.

Rain showers are expected on Friday for lake communities with snow possible above 8,000 feet. An overnight low of 30 degrees is forecast.

Showers are also possible on Saturday for the lake with snow above 8,000 feet.

A high of 63 is forecast on Saturday with Sunday moving back into the low 70s. A low of 30 degrees is also possible on Saturday night with lows moving out of freezing territory on Sunday night.
