Galena star wins Champion Chevrolet Athlete of the Week after 111-yard game

Week Two of the high school fall sports calendar is in the books, and Galena football's Erick Rodriguez is the winner of the Champion Chevrolet High School Athlete of the Week award for the week of Aug. 19-25, 2024.

Rodriguez rushed 20 times for 111 yards in the Grizzlies’ 29-6 win over Chavez High School of Stockton, California on Aug. 23.

Rodriguez narrowly took the title with 25.51% of the 5,108 votes cast in this week's vote. Reno football's Jackson Mathews finished second with 24.47%, and Reed's Jayden Purdum took third with 18.91%.

McQueen volleyball's Taylor Grayson was the top non-football athlete with 6.79% of the vote.
