Jeremy Renner remembers his near-fatal snowplow accident in horrifying detail, a year and a half after the incident that left him with nearly 40 broken bones.

The “Avengers” star, in a new interview with Men’s Health , recalled the excruciating moments as he was pulled under the machinery while clearing snow near his home in Reno, Nevada, on Jan. 1, 2023.

“I remember my head cracking on the thing and it just pressing on me — it’s exactly like you think it would feel,” he said. “An immovable object and a crushing force, and something’s gotta give. But thank God my skull didn’t fully give. And then it kept going. Undulate, undulate, undulate, undulate. Cheekbone broke, eye socket broke, and then from the crushing of getting run over by the machine, my eye bulged out.”

“I could see my left eyeball with my right eyeball,” he continued. “I was screaming for a breath. I needed to shove all my energy of air out just so I could suck air back in. There was no breathing happening.”

As he lay waiting for help to arrive, “I started getting really tired. My heart rate’s going lower, lower, lower,” he recalled.

After about 45 minutes, EMTs arrived, he said, and he only remembers fragments of the hours and days that followed.

The actor was airlifted to a hospital where he spent two weeks in an intensive care unit. He broke 38 bones and suffered a collapsed lung and pierced liver, among other injuries.

He underwent multiple surgeries and physical therapy and made a remarkable recovery. He now continues to rebuild his strength with an intensive gym regime , which he fits in around his shooting schedule for “Mayor of Kingstown.”
