Alaska Airlines adding nonstop flights from Reno to San Diego, Los Angeles

Travelers flying between Reno and Southern California are getting more nonstop options as Alaska Airlines announced an expansion of its routes.

Alaska Airlines announced on Monday that it will be adding nonstop service between Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and San Diego International Airport (SAN). The Reno-San Diego route is expected to start in December, according to the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority.

The nonstop service between Reno and San Diego is aimed at travelers who want to either enjoy winter skiing at Lake Tahoe or Southern California’s warmer weather during the winter. The Reno-San Diego flights are part of 18 new nonstop routes that Alaska Airlines added domestically and in Central America as well.

“We’ve put together … options from tropical destinations across Mexico to the most popular ski slopes in North America,” said Kirsten Amrine, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of network planning and revenue management, in a statement.

Alaska Airlines also recently announced nonstop service between Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The Reno-Los Angeles nonstop flights start on Oct. 1 and can already be booked on AlaskaAir.com for as low as $49 one way.

The nonstop routes from Alaska Airlines further expand the available options for travelers who want to travel between the Biggest Little City and Southern California.

Southwest Airlines also offers nonstop service to San Diego, according to the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. Spirit Airlines, meanwhile, started nonstop service to LAX on July 10. Other airlines that offer flights to and from Reno and Los Angeles are American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines.
