81-year-old Reno man charged with murder in Palomino Valley shooting

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office has charged Jimmy Lellan Shores, 81, of Reno, with murder after the person he is suspected of shooting last week died on Sunday.

At about 9:45 a.m. on July 9, sheriff's deputies responded to a residence in the 5000 block of Microwave Road in Palomino Valley, where they found Ingra Souza with a gunshot wound, authorities said in a Wednesday afternoon release.

Emergency medical personnel took Souza to a local hospital.

Shores was arrested on charges of battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm and discharging a firearm in a prohibited area. He was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility, police said.

On Sunday, Souza died from his injuries, and detectives leading the investigation charged Shores with murder with the use of a deadly weapon.
