Man arrested Wednesday after woman stabbed at Gateway Inn in west Reno

A man accused of stabbing a woman at a west Reno motel Wednesday morning was arrested after a standoff with police.

At about 8:50 a.m., Reno police responded to the Gateway Inn, 1275 Stardust St., where a woman had been stabbed, RPD said in a Wednesday news release. The woman was transported to the hospital and was in stable condition.

Police say David Schneider, 65, approached the woman at the motel and stabbed her multiple times. According to police, the Schneider refused to surrender. SWAT responded and entered his room.

Schneider was arrested on a charge of battery with a deadly weapon and booked into the Washoe County Jail, police said.
