Smoke from the Park Fire in California was forecast to roll into the Reno-Sparks area midweek.

The fire had burned over 370,000 acre as of Monday afternoon. It started last week near Chico, California, roughly 90 miles northwest of Sacramento, and was at 12% contained Monday afternoon, according to Cal Fire.

In the early part of the week, winds were forecast to blow smoke from the fire over Pyramid Lake and Pershing County north of Reno-Sparks, according to Justin Collins, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Reno.

"We may see more impacts to the Reno area on Wednesday" when winds are forecast to shift further south," Collins said Monday.

"As long as the winds stay straight westerly, then Reno will be fine, but it looks like Wednesday, we'll start to see that shift."

Collins said the air quality in Reno might reach the moderate category overnight Monday and into Tuesday morning.

The Gerlach area had already seen air quality hit the unhealthy category, according to Collins.

According to Reno NWS, temperatures were forecast be in the low 90s through Tuesday before moving up to the mid to upper 90s Wednesday. Triple digits were forecast to return at the end of the week.
