Truckers Trick To Beat Seattle Traffic Probably Not Be Legal
I'm fascinated by Seattle driving and the drivers themselves. You can definitely tell the regulars vs the visitors. This is especially true when you have drivers like this guy who said, "F*** it! I do what I want!" I've recently shared the story of a guy who actually enjoys driving...
Flying taxis are coming to big cities. When will they be here?
A flying taxi. What do you think, are you up for it? Imagine you're flying into Seatac Airport but the hotel you want to stay at is in downtown Seattle. You can take a bus downtown that might only take you 45 minutes to an hour. Soon you'll be able to take the light rail, I have no idea how long that will take. Look forward a year or two, you could take an air taxi.

You're not imagining it: Seattle traffic got worse in 2023
You're not imagining things if it feels like driving in Seattle is getting worse and the windows to avoid traffic are shrinking. Why it matters: Traffic congestion not only wastes time, money and fuel, it can also raise stress and impact mental and physical health.Blood pressure can go up just from sitting in traffic — not from aggravation, but from the air pollution inhaled. The big picture: Peak-time drivers in the Seattle-Everett-Bellevue area lost 58 hours to congestion in 2023, up from 46 hours in 2022, according to the annual Global Traffic Scorecard from Kirkland-based Inrix, released this week. What they did: The...

FOLLOWUP: Closing arguments filed, ruling expected Monday in Alki Elementary rebuild/expansion parking appeal
(Rendering of new Alki Elementary entrance on north side of school) Monday (July 1) is the day that Deputy Hearing Examiner Susan Drummond is expected to issue her ruling in the second appeal of a proposed zoning exception for the new Alki Elementary School. Thursday was the deadline she gave to the three parties in the case – the nearby residents who filed the appeal, Seattle Public Schools, and the city Department of Construction and Inspections – to file their closing statements, and all three did. You might recall that the only issue is whether SPS will be allowed to build the expanded new school with less parking than city zoning rules require. The rules require 48 spaces; the district originally sought to rebuild with no offstreet parking; a separate group of area residents appealed that and other zoning exceptions the city granted. Last August, Drummond ruled in their favor regarding the parking issue, ordering the district and city to go back to the drawing board on that. (Other exception appeals were either dismissed or settled.) The district subsequently revised the design to create 15 spaces on the southwest side of the campus; the city said OK, and then this appeal was filed.
