(Reuters) - The National Transportation Safety Board plans to conduct a safety culture survey of employees at Boeing's 737 MAX factory in Renton, Washington, the board's chair said on Wednesday.

NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy disclosed the plan at a hearing after criticizing the planemaker's prior safety efforts before a January 737 MAX mid-air emergency and Boeing's failure to prevent unauthorized or undocumented work at the 737 factory. Boeing executive Paul Wright said at the hearing that the planemaker would commit to work with the NTSB to carry out the board's survey without interference.
