RHEA COUNTY — Daisy Smith, the 2023 National Dairy Month Chairman for Rhea County, is the winner of the State 4-H Division I Scrapbook Contest and Best Use of Media Award.

4-H National Dairy Month chairpersons are vital to sharing dairy’s story with the local community each year. As part of their duties during National Dairy Month, dairy month chairpersons document their promotional activities in the form of a scrapbook. 4-H members from across the state participated in the scrapbook contest to share the value of milk and other dairy products to Tennessee consumers. The contest is sponsored by The Dairy Alliance, a nonprofit working behalf on dairy farmers.

As part of her role as the National Dairy Month Chairman, Daisy educated on the practices on the modern dairy farm. The 2023 theme was Around the Dairy in Seven Days, encouraging Tennessee consumers to choose real milk and other dairy products at mealtimes. The scrapbook highlighted Daisy’s promotion of dairy farming and milk’s nutrition around this theme.

Daisy is the daughter of Terry and Veronica Smith. She is an active member of her local 4-H chapter. In addition to her role as a dairy chairperson, Smith participates in numerous contests and works on projects in public speaking and demonstration.
