The Rhea County Book Bus is one of eight in Tennessee established through Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation’s Book Bus program. Through the program, partnering school districts retrofit a decommissioned school bus with seating and shelving to house books and literacy resources, creating a learning space for children and families to enjoy. The buses travel to high-needs neighborhoods over the summer, and educators lead reading workshops and provide families with resources and books.
