Neighbors race to protect homes from rising water in Rice County
RICE COUNTY, Minn. — Rivers rose fast this weekend in Rice County, flooding neighborhoods in Morristown, Faribault, Warsaw and other small communities. In Warsaw, the owner of Channel Inn put out a call for help on Facebook, and within minutes, community members started showing up to help fill sandbags. "We're fine. It's the community we're here to support," Michelle Voegele said.On Sunday alone, they filled more than 3,000 sandbags."In my 35 years out here I've never seen the water this high," Voegele said. Across the bridge nearby, Doc's Dock Campground is underwater, right ahead of the busy 4th of July weekend. "This is devastating...
Paying attention closely to the severe possibility tonight
9:30PM Update- Temperatures still are in the 80s even at this hour and still feeling like the 90s and even triple digits in some locations. This is good news as we do not need any additional rainfall nor any severe weather. LeSueur and Rice County though have been placed are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 4am as they look to be just on the western edge of the line of storms that develop overnight.

However, Faribault city officials noted both rivers began to drop Monday morning. As inconvenient as these road closures may be, especially to locals, it’s nothing compared to the flooding of businesses, homes, campgrounds and more, especially in neighboring Waterville. The...
