Northern Star sets auditions for the musical 'Mystic Pizza!'

Northern Star Theater Company of Rice Lake has announced auditions for the 80s musical "Mystic Pizza!" Auditions are Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon and Monday from 4-6 p.m. Other arrangements can be made if needed, and callbacks to be arranged.

Those interested should prepare a two-minute vocal piece. The company is able to connect devices to its sound system via bluetooth/cord or bring a CD or play guitar/ukulele. A 16-count choreographed dance piece will be taught during the session. A short reading from the script, provided at auditions, will complete the audition process.

The setting is Mystic, Connecticut, over the course of fall 1988. The themes of the musical are friendship, self discovery, love and ambition. The tone is easy playfulness throughout, lively, an 80s rom-com in spirit and style.

Songs in the musical include "Small Town," "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," "Lost in Your Eyes," "Addicted to Love," "Take My Breath Away," "Into the Mystic," "The Power of Love," "I Think We’re Alone Now," "I’m The Only One," "Hold On," "Manic Monday," "When I See You Smile," "True Colors," "All I Need is a Miracle/You Just Keep Me Hanging On," "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "Mad About You," "Hold On," "Never Gonna Give You Up," "Please Forgive Me" and "Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now."
