    Kucko is Fortnightly Club's April senior girl honoree

    The Rice Lake Fortnightly Club's senior girl honoree at its April 23 meeting was Claire Kucko, daughter of Penny and Scott Kucko.

    She has a GPA of 3.47 and is participating in the Start College Now program at Northwood Technical College.

    The senior has been part of the marching band and color guard all through high school. She was color guard captain this year. She also participates in the pep band, wind ensemble and symphonic band. She participated at state in the 2023 Solo and Ensemble competition. She received a first rank for group performances in 2019 and 2020. She also received a first rank for a solo performance in 2021. She has been taking piano lessons since 2017, and in 2023 she started teaching piano.

    Kucko currently works as a caregiver for Northern Neighbors, as a cook/busser for Cousin’s Hide-A-Way in Haugen, and since 2018 has provided childcare for the Nispel family. She has also worked at TJ Maxx, Duke’s Grocery Outlet, and The Wicked Whisk.

    Kucko's volunteer opportunities include helping at the Community Cat Rescue and Adoption Center, ringing bells for The Salvation Army, donating blood with the Red Cross, and participating in trash clean-up on Highway M.
