    Track and field: Cameron girls set 1,600-meter relay school record at Bloomer's Landgraf invite

    The Cameron girls 1,600-meter relay of Lexi Kuffel, Maddie Severt, Inez Schmidt and Lauren Pearson set a school record to highlight the Comets' performances at Bloomer's Dave Landgraf Invitational on Tuesday.

    Cameron also had Pearson win the long jump and high jump as the Comet girls finished second (84 points) to host Bloomer (98.2) in the standings. Leading the Cameron boys was Jax Manor, who topped the triple jump as the Comets were seventh in the boys standings.

    Kuffel, Severt, Schmidt and Pearson completed their 400 relay in four minutes and 10.9 seconds, which broke the 2012 school record of 4:11.68 held by Molly Brion, Jodi Sila, Sam Gronski and Hannah Bailey.

    Pearson improved upon her school record for the high jump in clearing 5 feet, 4 inches, and she also leapt 17-3.5 for her win in the long jump.

    Kuffel took runner-up for 200 in a time of 26.49, who improved upon her school record time. The Comets' 400 relay of Jami Folz, Severt, Cyleigh Cherney and Cora Romsos was fourth (54.35), as was Hailey Hince in the pole vault (8-6). With a discus toss of 101 feet, Kierra Schuebel broke a school record which teammate Anna Baribeau set earlier this season. Schmidt improved upon her school record for the 1,600 in taking fifth (5:26.09).

    Manor not only gave the Comets a win in the triple jump with a distance of 39-2.25, he was also a part of three runners-up relays. Caden Anderson, Cole Peterson, Manor and Golat finished their 400 relay in 45.63, and for the 800 relay, Anderson, Julien Foster, Peterson and Manor finished in 1:34.78. Running the 1,600 relay was Anderson, Peterson, Manor and Colt Mikolon, who had a time of 3:44.99.

    Foster finished fourth in the high jump (5-6) and Golat took fourth in the long jump (20-0.75). Improving upon his school record discus toss was Tyler Phillips, who was sixth at 131-11.
