Rice Lake City Council to choose new District 3 representative

    2024-05-10

Three candidates have announced they want to become the District 3 representative to the City Council, which will decide the winner on Tuesday evening.

Jeremy Boehme, Ryan Hulback and Larry Tripp have declared their candidacies to be appointed to the seat by the City Council and fulfill the remainder of the term of former District 3 representative Harlan Dodge.

The seat became vacant in April, when Dodge was elected mayor, and the City Council gave residents of District 3 until May 8 to file their intentions to seek the position.

The City Council will vote on who will take the seat at its regular meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at City Hall. The three declared candidates will have a chance to address the council, and the mayor and council could call for more nominations.

The vote could be held by either roll call or signed written ballots that are public record. The winning candidate will immediately take the District 3 seat on the City Council and hold it through April 2025.
