Blue Hills Speedsters complete season at Badger State Games

The Blue Hills Speedsters Track and Field Club finished its third season with a trip to the 39th annual Badger State Games in Marathon City. Over 30 of the Speedsters ages 8-18 competed in the one day event showcasing their skills ranging from shot put all the way to the 3,000 meter run.

These athletes have been practicing each week at the Cameron track and field complex with the help of local coaches Carly Grassmann, Ashtyn and Carter Kummet, Tyler Larson, Andy Komp, Andrea Pearson, Abi Wood and Hans Schmidt. UW-Stout Head Coach Kyle Steiner and pole vaulter Triton Robey also assisted.

Many Speedsters also competed at the Middle School State meet earlier this year with a noteworthy state record coming from Lyla Gago, Quinn Grassmann, Claudia Mohns, and Agatha Schmidt in the 4x200 meters.

“This has been a really fun group to work with this summer”, said coach Schmidt. “They really enjoy the team training and individual competition this sport brings. More importantly they are a group of high-character kids.”
