“One of the best” is how Barron County Fair Manager Kevin Roske described the 147th Barron County Fair that took place last Wednesday through Sunday, although attendance totals are not yet available.

He said both grandstand events — the demo derby Friday evening and the tractor pull Saturday evening — were sold out.

Either more people came to the fair hungry or ate more than usual as the fair manager said the eight or nine food vendors all reported increases in sales this year over past years.

Fair secretary Jacque Schaffer, who crashed the computer system when entering 10,179 entries in the junior and open classes combined, said the number of entries was an all-time high.

Outgoing Fairest Elora Repman gave a tearful farewell Sunday afternoon just before crowning new Fairest Isabella Lyste while fairest co-coordinators Sarah Doyen and Devon Laursen gave sashes to Junior Fairest Cadence Holten and first runner-up Alexus Olson.

“I can’t wait to represent you all as the 2024 Barron County Fairest of the Fair and share all of the amazing opportunities the fair has to offer,” Lyste said.
