    Police Logs: Gas explosion damages home

    The police dispatch center receives several hundred calls weekly. The small sampling below shows their diversity.

    Sunday, Aug. 410:51 a.m. Caller reports there is a death threat written on the back of her vehicle. It says “we si owi t we 666 999.“ Wilson Ave., Rice Lake.

    12:23 p.m. Caller says her windshield was damaged by a rock with someone mowing. She has the info on the mower. She is going to contact her insurance. Logged for info. Kern Ave., Rice Lake.

    1:50 p.m. Caller says her vehicle was egged some time between 10 p.m. last night and about 10 minutes ago. She stated there is damage to the vehicle paint and would like to see an officer. Stout St., Rice Lake.

    9:29 p.m. Caller says he lost his wallet with $500. Aug. 5, 11:13 a.m. He called back and advised he located his wallet. Bear Paw Ave., Rice Lake.

    Monday, Aug. 512:15 a.m. Caller requesting to speak to officer in reference to her vehicle being egged and damaged. Moore St., Chetek.

    9:59 a.m. Caller says she received an odd text message from a number which she did not have in her phone that said “rice lake police dept said my whole family is dead today they are killing me are you okay.” Looked the number up and it belongs to female subject. 10:48 a.m. Doing a welfare check on female subject. 2:39 p.m. No contact. Messenger St., Rice Lake.

    10:16 a.m. Caller says a person on a bicycle ran into her while she was turning off of Macauley Avenue. The other party advised they were fine and rode on. Caller advised she has damage to her Jeep. 10:42 a.m. She will be completing a crash report. Rice Lake.

    5:12 p.m. Caller says she was involved in a minor two-car crash. There is no injury and both vehicles have pulled into the bank parking lot. Highways 8 & 63, Turtle Lake.

    10:26 p.m. Caller says there is a 6-year-old girl running up and down the hallway crying, saying that she cannot find her dad. There were no other adults in the apartment. While still on the line her dad came back in and stated that he was just out having a cigarette. Kern Ave., Rice Lake.

    10:45 p.m. RP says there are homeless people under the bridge screaming and yelling. 10:49 p.m. Three people involved. They became quiet after Rice Lake Police Department was advised. 11:04 p.m. Spoke with male subject and his girlfriend, who gave the name of another male subject. He walked away and the others were told to keep it quiet. Main St. & Stein St., Rice Lake.

    Tuesday, Aug. 6

    6:33 p.m. RP says she would like to speak with an officer in reference to issues she and another person are having with their exes. 6:35 p.m. RP’s ex is “slandering” her name to others in the community. 6:36 p.m. Subjects are making hateful social media posts about the RP and the other person. 6:37 p.m. RP is requesting to meet with a Cumberland officer at the Police Department. 7:07 p.m. There were many messages exchanged over Facebook. The RP was provided information to document those messages and file for a restraining order if necessary. Berdan St.

    6:43 p.m. RP says her vehicle is gone and husband took it. Both their names are on it and they are married. He told her he makes the payments on it so he took it and she is wanting the vehicle. 6:50 p.m. RP was advised this is a civil issue since they are married. Birch Ave., Barron.

    Wednesday, Aug. 75:24 p.m. Caller says she is having an issue with a brown pitbull repeatedly coming onto her property. It is now wandering in the yard. She stated it is not friendly and tried to come after her dogs. Unknown who the owner is. 5:38 p.m. No locate on the dog. Barker St., Rice Lake.

    6:26 p.m. There is a little girl riding her bike in the middle of the road, no parents around. Appears to be about 7 or 8? 6:29 p.m. While on the phone the child went home and the parents were yelling at her for being in the road. Cornell Ave., Rice Lake.

    Thursday, Aug. 88:33 a.m. Caller says their hot water heater blew up in the basement causing the foundation to shift. They turned off the gas and electricity. They would like someone to come out and take a look. 8:41 a.m. Cumberland Fire personnel on scene. They will have to do an inspection. 9:31 a.m. The explosion at the residence was a gas explosion. Half the house has significant damage. 20th Ave., Comstock.

    12:21 p.m. Caller stated 6-year-old male with some cuts. He is awake and breathing, standing. Vehicle was going over 25 mph. Officer advised to wait with the helicopter. 2nd Ave., Cumberland.

    6:43 p.m. Caller says she lost her phone at the farmers market sometime this morning. She called the phone and someone answered but will now not give her phone back. 7:19 p.m. RP was advised to contact her cell phone provider and notify them of the phone theft and have the service deactivated. 16th St., Barron.

    7:23 p.m. Caller says that there are several cars driving on Sawyer Street even though it is closed. People are driving around the barricades and through people’s yards. Rice Lake.

    11:37 p.m. 27-year-old male subject possible broken arm. Smashed it in a piece of machinery. Pioneer Ave., Rice Lake.

    Friday, Aug. 92:48 p.m. Caller says she cleans an Airbnb and found a container of what she believes is marijuana. She is requesting a deputy meet her to pick it up. 3:30 p.m. Officer has the marijuana and will be contacting the manager for the Airbnb. 24¼ St., Chetek.

    11:20 p.m. Caller says there is a vehicle in the ditch across the road from her house. Appears the vehicle possibly rolled. One male occupant out walking around, does not appear to be injured. Aug. 10, 12:02 a.m. The vehicle went into a field to the east of Barron Polk Street and damaged a property line fence. 12:18 a.m. En route Mayo Barron for a blood draw. Clear Lake.

    Saturday, Aug. 109:05 a.m. Out with a male walking in front of storage. 9:12 a.m. Subject is 10-2, will be attempting to walk to the Twin Cities today. 18 St. & 21 Ave., Rice Lake.

    7:43 p.m. 911 caller says a male subject is walking against traffic on Highway SS in the lane of travel. 7:49 p.m. RP says cars were swerving to avoid the male. 8:13 p.m Officer will be giving male subject a ride to grocery store to meet with someone there. Cameron.
