Golf: Rice Lake places 8th at New Richmond invite

In an early-season invitational on Aug. 21 in New Richmond, the Rice Lake girls golf team placed eighth.

The Warriors shot a combined 484 to finish in front of Menomonie in ninth and behind Eau Claire North in seventh. Rice Lake was led by freshman Annika Ahlberg, who tied for 21st with a score of 104. Senior Emma Skar scored 123, and the Warriors' only returner from last year, junior Hailee Lindow, carded 128. Senior Trinity Matthews was one stroke back at 129 and freshman Callie Bolduc scored 137.

Four-time defending state champion Prescott won the invite with Hudson taking second. Chippewa Falls' Sarah Chafee topped the individual leaderboard with a 78.

Rice Lake returns to the course Tuesday at an invitational hosted by Eau Claire Memorial at Wild Ridge Golf Course. The Big Rivers Conference has its first meet Aug. 29 at New Richmond, and Rice Lake holds its conference meet Sept. 5 at Turtleback.
