Timberland Hills to hold grand opening celebration for bike trails

One Track Mind Foundation and Timberland Hills are holding a grand opening event for the new mountain bike trail system in Barronett.

The grand opening event is Sept. 28 from noon to 3 p.m. at Timberland Hills, 1788 Boyd Lane, Barronett.

Shank N Shig BBQ food truck will be on site, while Northwoods Cycle of Rice Lake and Riverbrook Bike and Ski of Hayward will be providing bike demos and fix-it stations.

Trail builders Pathfinder Trail Building and Dirt Candy Designs will be present to showcase the trail system.

Single-track bike trails have been being built in the Timberland Hills Recreation Area northwest of Cumberland near the intersection of Barron, Burnett and Washburn counties. On July 1 the bike trails opened to the public and additional trail building has been ongoing this summer. About 25 miles of bike trails are expected for the project.
