    Library update: Heer to discuss his new book 'NePETism'

    Local author Benjamin Heer will talk about his new book, "NePETism" on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Rice Lake Public Library. Heer started drawing comic strips when he was in the fourth grade. His work has been published in a student newspaper, books and in "Hoard’s Dairyman."

    "NePETism" is a collection of 40 Days Fresh cartoons by Heer, which provides more than 100 pages of single panel humorous cartoons about animals and the people who own them.

    The Rice Lake Library Board meets on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

    Barron County Take Action Summit meets at the library on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. Connect with like-minded individuals to make a positive impact in the community.

    In other happenings at the public library, the Barron County Literacy English Study Group meets Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. The group's focus is to help adults who want to learn English. The Chessheads group meets Mondays from 6-9 p.m. See more regularly scheduled events at rlpl.org.
