Price attended the annual meeting of the grand lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Appleton on Monday.

In 1924: The flag day program starts at 7:30 at the Rice Lake City Park on Saturday evening. — About 50 employees of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad live in the city, contributing an estimated $75,000 a year to business here.

In 1944: People have been listening to their radios since 3 a.m. Tuesday, following the grim news of the invasion of Europe. — Lightning struck the A. Desrude home on West Knapp Street on Sunday.

In 1964: A bear cub chased two youngsters on the north end of Balsam Lake on Monday evening. — Frank Cadott, 82-year-old former chief of the Chippewa Indians, helped the Cameron Boy Scouts dedicate their Scout cabin. — John Thiel, a new attorney in Rice Lake, will practice with Edward Coe.

In 1984: Steve Finnigan won $25 for his Aquabug design. — Fourteen employees either transferred or lost their jobs when the Rice Lake General Telephone business office closed Thursday. — Plans to close the Barron animal lab have drawn strong criticism. — A vacationer from Illinois won the Long Lake walleye tagged for $1,000.

In 2004: The village of Cameron marked its 125th anniversary last weekend, along with its annual Camerama festivities. — Barron County has responded that The Sierra Club has no basis to file a lawsuit against the county and its Solid Waste Management board for violations of the state’s Clean Air Act.
