Charlottesville officials warn about SNAP, EBT scammers
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - People buying groceries on government assistance should be on the lookout for scammers, local and state officials are warning. Scams targeting the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also commonly called SNAP or food stamps, are on the uptick, according to Virginia Department of Social Services. In particular, officials warn the real target is the Electronic Benefits Transfer card, or EBT, which shoppers use to buy groceries.

Corey Mohr, of the LGBT Life Center, said the No. 1 question the center receives is where to find LGBTQ+-friendly services. A common request they get is recommendations for medical providers and related services — but the need for welcoming spaces goes far beyond the doctor’s office.
