First-ever communitywide cleanup in Penn Hills yields nearly 400 bags of trash
The first-ever communitywide cleanup in Penn Hills on July 27 was a success by any metric, sponsors say, attracting 172 volunteers who filled nearly 399 trash bags. Volunteers covered 6.5 miles of road between 12 neighborhoods at the event, which was organized by the Penn Hills Rotary and Penn Hills Community Development Corporation. Litter-getters included representatives from a host of Penn Hills businesses and community groups as well as several state and local elected officials.
Morgantown teen selected for Jr. USA Karate Team
MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) - A local teen athlete has achieved the prestigious #1 spot on the Jr. USA Karate Team. Landen Wood, of Morgantown, will now have the opportunity to represent the United States in the sport of Karate at the Jr. Pan American Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil from August 25th through the 31st and at the Jr. World Championships in Venice, Italy from October 6th through the 12th.
