RICHFIELD, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Police detained a suspect Wednesday morning after shots were fired during a dispute at a Maverick gas station in Richfield.

According to Richfield City Police, officers responded to reports of a dispute where shots were fired near 290 South Main around 2:30 a.m. Upon their arrival, officers say the suspect fled the scene on a red 4-wheeler which led to a police chase.

Police stopped the official pursuit, however, they continued searching for the suspect and the 4-wheeler. Later that morning, police located the 4-wheeler at a local residence and called in backup to assist in evacuating the area and safely detaining the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody “without incident.”

Richfield police were assisted by several other agencies including Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, Utah Highway Patrol, and the Department of Corrections. The investigation is ongoing and potential charges have yet to be announced.

The identity of the suspect has yet to be released as charges are pending.
