Binghamton Man Found Guilty of Rape in 1st Degree
A Binghamton man was found guilty on the charge of Rape in the 1st degree in court on Thursday. According to the Broome County District Attorney, in June 2023, Willis Bickham, Jr. took a child under the age of 13 years old into an apartment on Green Street and proceeded to have intercourse with her. Bickham was 40 years old at the time. He was also found guilty of forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.

Section of Jarvis Street to be Closed for Several Months Beginning July 29th
A rehabilitation project on Jarvis Street will have a portion of the street shut down for several months, beginning Monday. According to the mayor's office, the project is the rehabilitation of the Jarvis Street railroad bridge. The section of Jarvis Street that will be closed to traffic will be between Charlotte Street and Clinton Street. Detours will be in place.
Cortlandville Fire Department handles more storm-related calls
The Cortlandville Fire Department handled numerous calls following a storm that rolled through the area on Wednesday. According to Cortlandville fire chief Mike Biviano, Wednesday afternoon’s storm brought down some trees and power lines in and around Levydale Park, Starr Road and parts of Route 281. According to a release, several trees fell on houses.
