BILLINGS — The Richland County Patriots fought to the end but came up short in two close losses to the league-leading Billings Cardinals Thursday night at Pirtz Field. The American Legion Post #12 Patriots mounted a comeback in the first game, scoring five runs in the seventh inning, before losing 12–11. Richland only managed one run in game two, losing 1–4 in a game that featured solid defense and quality pitching by both squads.

Glasgow Reds Take Third In Williston Tournament
The Glasgow Reds improved their overall record to 12-17 last week with a 5-1 run. The Reds defeated the Richland County Patriots 10-7 and 11-1 July 10 before traveling to Williston, N.D., July 12-14. Glasgow opened the Williston Tournament with a 3-2 win over the Surrey Blue Sox and a 7-2 loss against Rapid City, Friday. They defeated Bismarck 15-0 the following day and closed out the weekend with a 7-3 win over the Williston Oilers to take third place in the Tournament.

Cooper McNally of the Richland County Patriots American Legion Post #12 baseball team is this week’s Sidney Herald Athlete of the Week. McNally posted three runs, four hits, three RBI’s and four stolen bases over the last week of action for the Patriots. He also pitched one game.
Local tourism group receives state grant
FAIRVIEW — Tourism in the region will get a boost, thanks to a grant from the State of Montana. Late last month, Missouri River Country, which helps promote tourism in six counties in northeastern Montana including Richland County, received word that it was selected to receive a $334,282 Regional Assistance Program Grant.
